Worldwide collaboration, united for progress in Parkinson’s research
The GEoPD consortium unites researchers from over 60 sites worldwide to advance education, research, and translation in Parkinson’s disease. Organized into five cores, GEoPD fosters collaboration by sharing expertise and resources, supporting joint research projects, and connecting members through annual meetings.
Milan, Italy – 2024
19th Annual GEoPD Meeting | June 10–11, 2024
The meeting covered genetic and environmental factors in Parkinson’s disease, new treatment approaches, and links to Gaucher’s disease. Discussions also focused on future research directions and updates from the GP2 program.
Antwerp, Belgium – 2023
18th Annual GEoPD Meeting | October 30–31, 2023
The meeting focused on genetic stratification, biomarkers, and new treatment approaches in Parkinson’s disease. Highlights included updates on ROPAD and PDGene, discussions on alpha-synuclein biomarkers, and future directions for GEoPD projects like LONG-PD and COURAGE-PD.

15th Annual GEoPD Meeting | October 2022
The 15th GEoPD Annual Meeting in Stockholm brought together consortium members to discuss ongoing research projects, share data, and explore collaborative opportunities in Parkinson’s disease research. 14th Annual GEoPD Meeting | October 31 – November 2, 2019
The meeting explored the genetics of movement disorders in Africa, featuring regional insights from Nigeria, Tanzania, and South Africa. Discussions highlighted challenges in access to genetic testing and the need to expand research in underrepresented populations.

13th Annual GEoPD Meeting | October 2018
The 13th GEoPD Annual Meeting in Paris convened approximately 80 members for a closed session to review ongoing and future projects. The subsequent day featured a public symposium discussing hot topics in Parkinson’s disease research, fostering collaboration between GEoPD members and the broader scientific community.

12th Annual GEoPD Meeting | October 12–14, 2017
The meeting featured updates on ongoing GEoPD projects, data blitz presentations, and discussions on new project proposals. A public symposium addressed therapeutic horizons, biomarkers, and cutting-edge research in Parkinson’s disease. The event concluded with a forum for Parkinson’s Queensland members and support groups.

10th Annual GEoPD Meeting | October 7–10, 2015
The 10th anniversary meeting in Tokyo featured updates on genetic studies, including polyglutamine repeats and RVCD sequencing. Data blitz sessions highlighted research from participating sites. Discussions addressed regional Parkinson’s disease initiatives in Asia, with presentations on projects from Australia, China, Taiwan, and Japan. The meeting also included a public symposium on advances in Parkinson’s genetics and therapeutics.

9th Annual GEoPD Meeting | September 10–13, 2014
The meeting featured updates on the LONG-PD study, RVCD sequencing, and COURAGE-PD. Data blitz sessions highlighted epidemiological, clinical, genetic, and neuroscience research. Discussions addressed unmet needs and new proposals. A special focus was placed on alpha-synuclein, cognition, and therapeutic possibilities. The event concluded with a gala dinner at the Museum of Anthropology.

6th Annual GEoPD Meeting | September 19–21, 2011
